Black and White -- Isabel

Pic 1: I captured this at Marine Park during sunset. The sunset lighting made everything around us very bright. I thought it was very beautiful how the sunset lighting brought out the details on the tree. Specifically highlighting the bareness of the tree and the designs and natural patterns of the branches. I also wanted to point out the core of the tree; to me, it sort of represented the inner working of the tree. It looks similar to the nervous system in the human body. I really like how the black and white filter makes the clouds look like smoke, making the feeling of the photo kind of spooky. Plus, the shadows of the trees in the background add to the spookiness of the photo. I had trouble cropping the photo, so that is something I definitely could work on more.

Pic 2: Unlike the first photo, this one has a lighter tone to it. I think the contrast of the two is pretty cool and draws the eye in. Focusing on natural patterns, the trees in this photo allow the eye to explore all aspects of the image. The varying shapes and curves of the trees draw attention to the versatility of nature and what it creates. I like how the ferns below the trees sort of blend in with each other; however, you can still see the details of the leaves and make out the shapes on each individual fern. I think my favorite detail in this picture is the fact that you can see every stick and branch because the filter has darkened them sorrt of making it appear similar to a skeleton. I captured this at Clarks point.
