B&W -- Emma
I used the trip to Mount Baker to try to capture some good black and white photos in the snow. I had a few that I liked, but I think this one is one of the best. I like how the snag breaks up the space in the sky and pulls in the attention of the viewer. It's more narrow than the trees, but the density of it feels very commanding to me. The tree on the right, on the other hand, is sort of a secondary anchor for the eyes. The overall mood of the image feels very Pacific Northwest as well, which I am always going for. Going up to the mountain made me realize how much I missed the snow and was sad that we did not get a big snowfall this year. Snowy days always feel a bit monochrome compared to the typical seas of green during much of the year. Thus, in my photo, I wanted to capture the feeling of the dark winter days that we are rushing out of as we move into spring. I did not edit my photo to be black and white, I just shot using the monochrome setting on my camera.
