Water Stuff - Jordan
Panorama I created out of 6 or 7 photos. |
Bird of some sort. Saw it dive under the water a number of times. |
Posts left over from the railway line that went over the water. |
In the reading, Kruckeberg describes part of the formation of Puget Sound due to glaciation during the Last Glacial Maximum. The above photos were taken at Clayton Beach, which is part of Samish Bay. Whenever I'm in one of the Bays (Bellingham Bay or Samish Bay) I wonder if they were formed by the same processes or if they were formed by different things, like tectonic activity, or erosion or something like that. If you look at nautical charts for the area, the water that we see is actually quite shallow for quite a way out to sea. Would that mean that, if the bay was formed by glaciation, that there used to be land out there? And what did it used to connect to?
That's kind of what I think of when I hike around the area, and when I look at the pictures that I've taken.
