Landscape Photoshoot 2/6 - Tyler Adres

These two photos were taken at Tenant Lake during our field trip on the 6th. This was my favorite location by far, and I am glad to have went even though class was delayed an hour. Besides the fact that this was my favorite trip, I found this assignment to be very difficult.

Tenant Park had an amazing view from the top of the watch tower, but I did not include any pictures of that because I failed to frame those pictures correctly; as well as a lot of other pictures that I captured throughout the day. I think the hardest part about landscape photography is finding the main focal point, and making the subjects that is chosen for the photo make sense.

Another obstacle that I ran into was finding the right exposure with the snow and the overcast sky. The lighting in general was not ideal, but I could have experimented more with the different settings to get different exposures. Both of the photos I included above are very dull, and lack the depth of field. These photos are monochrome and lack texture, because of the grayness of the sky and snow.

Framing these photos could have been better as well. For example, I could have zoomed in a little more to get rid of the tree branches on the left hand side of the picture. Other than that, I used the rule of thirds to frame the tower, which I liked. The second photo though, I believe I did a good job framing the path; added depth with the bridge going through the trees. Overall, I could have used different exposures to get better colors within these pictures. I am proud of the pictures that I took though, getting through the weird lighting conditions.
