Scene Throughout the Day (Bottom to Top) - Tyler Adres
(5:22 pm- 1/80, f13, ISO 2000)
This was the last picture I had taken to cap off the day. The sunset was in the opposite direction but was still beautiful in this frame. Winter sunsets are superior- the sky is more pink due to the colder, drier weather, which restricts light to spread through the sky, creating these beautiful results.
This was the hardest picture to take because of how dark it was. I brought the ISO high, but the lowest I could without hitting its limit, and brought down the shutter speed down to 1/80, to try and bring in more light to the frame. By the end of the day, I feel like my skills on working these settings has exponentially increased. I am not scared to use manual anymore!

I wanted to include a picture in between the 2-hour span, because the sunlight drastically changed between 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Out of all of the pictures, this one is my favorite due to the orange, and warmer tint to the landscape. I brought my ISO up to 400 and decreased my shutter speed to 1/125 to capture this color, which I believe does justice to what was actually seen in person.

The sun was starting to make its way down for the day, and began to bring shadows on the face of the church. Only a slight change to my settings here compared to the previous picture. I found that shutter speed 1/250 was a sweet spot in taking photos when the sun was towards 90-ish degrees in the sky. I slightly increased my ISO because the day became darker.
(1:17 pm- 1/250, f13, ISO 200)
From the morning to this point, the sunlight came quick. While waiting to take this picture in the afternoon, I watched the day get brighter and brighter out my front window; I spent a lot of time on the balcony (where I took these pictures). It felt very warm compared to past winters. Again, I am from Alaska, and it is abnormally warm up there as well- no snow, even. I heard that it was supposed to be a La Nina year this year, so why is it not snowing?
Obviously, it was easier to capture clearer photos with this daylight. I fixed my setting to Daylight White Balance, and tried to turn my
ISO down as low as possible to get the highest quality photo possible.
(7:47 am- 1/100, f13, ISO 3200)
This past week has been phenomenal. The weather has been clear, and the cold, crisp, air reminds me of my hometown. Specifically, I have loved waking up early in the mornings to catch the sunrise while I make my daily coffee, as well as catching the sunset on my walk home from school. I am grateful.
I woke up this morning to a beautiful purple sky. It was hard to capture this view within my DSLR, but I tried my best to pick the best settings for this light. I made sure to turn the ISO way up, to make the image bright, but not oversaturated because I did not want to add anything that was not true to the actual landscape.
