Nature in my neighborhood - Kendra
These photos were taken on the path behind my apartment building. I've been thinking a lot about the question of whether the nature in my neighborhood is healthy. There are dead plants and bushes everywhere, and much of the nature outside of my apartment is filled with trash, and paths have been created by plants being trampled down. Because of this, you would guess it's pretty unhealthy. But despite all the damage, there is still so much beauty. During the fall, these trees are covered in colorful red and orange leaves, and in the spring, they turn back to a bright green.
In the first photo, the branches stand out with their unique shapes and directions. It creates a complex tangled-looking pattern. All the branches turn in different ways, each one unique and unlike the others. If it was fall or spring or summer all these would be covered in leaves hiding the intricate details.
The second photo is of some moss on an old tree. I want to touch the moss. It looks squishy. This was the most colorful nature in my neighborhood.
The third photo is of a fallen leaf. I wonder if this leaf has been there for a long time as the way it's squashed into the cement, picking up the rough pattern of the ground.
In the fourth photo, the picture reminds me of a dead forest, with bare branches and trampled down paths of bushes. It brings an eerie energy that makes me want to walk away. But if you look closely you can find some beauty within the dullness.
Finally the last photo. I was very intrigued by what these were so I looked them up and they are clematis vine seed heads. Clematis vines bloom vibrant flowers that come out around early summertime. I wouldn’t have expected such dull-looking fuzzy balls would create something so beautiful.
